Service
A big part of MESA is community service! We have fundraised for organizations such as the Banks Bridgewater Lewis Fine Arts Academy which is dedicated to providing lessons and music opportunities for students from low-income communities in our area. We also have performed for the Evergreen Assisted Living Community in Champaign for the holidays and Valentine's Day! We've also hosted "School of Music Positivity Days" where we chalk welcome messages outside of the Music Building and write notes with positive messages, pair them with chocolate, and distribute them in the Music Building lobby. We also chalk welcome messages for SoM audition days so prospective students are greeted with a nice welcome on the way in! Check out the amazing virtual concert we put on in collaboration with the LYNX Project!
The LYNX Project is a Chicago-based nonprofit which amplifies diverse voices through newly commissioned songs. Their mission is to link communities through inclusive concerts and educational programming. All the proceeds from this concert go towards the LYNX Project and supporting their mission.

The money raised from the concert went to the Banks Bridgewater Lewis Fine Arts Academy, an Urbana organization dedicated to helping young people have access to music education regardless of financial background.
